The ECSA – European Citizen Science Association holds its 6th conference from 3-6 March 2026 at the University of Oulu, Finland, a cornerstone event for the European citizen science community. NORDECO is participating and part of the following activities:
👉 Wednesday Workshop 12: Involving citizens in Denmark in monitoring the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework with Finn Danielsen, Gitte Kragh, and Aja Faurschou Enghoff.
👉 Thursday Panel 18: Influencing policy through participatory science: lessons learned from community-based monitoring and citizen science in Western Canada with Finn Danielsen.
👉 Friday Workshop 19: Can Citizen Science contribute to decolonize forest governance? with Finn Danielsen and Herizo Andrianandrasana.
The theme of this year’s edition of the ECSA conference explores citizen science as a bridge between centre and periphery. The goal is to recognize the diversity of contexts in which citizen science unfolds, from urban metropolitan hubs to remote northern and southern spaces and emphasises its role to bring communities and knowledge together. It explores citizen science’s vital connections to sustainability, culture, history, political and legal systems, resources, public health and more.
