A new initiative of Botswana University of Agriculture & Natural Resources (BUAN) and NORDECO explores if citizen science can strengthen policy-making and natural resource management action in North Botswana.
In June and July 2026, citizens from the Chobe Enclave joined forces with BUAN, district agencies and NGOs to explore how citizen science can help tackle local challenges and strengthen natural resource management in Chobe District. By citizen science is meant both citizen science, community-based monitoring, and traditional and local knowledge programmes.
The activities in Chobe District mark the beginning of an exciting new five-year collaboration between BUAN and NORDECO on capacity exchange with focus on bottom-up approaches to natural resource monitoring and management, which was recently formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding.
The new initiative is part of the more4nature project, supported by the EU Horizon Europe programme.
