Nordeco prepares new Danish support to key international organisations

Nordeco is leading efforts to prepare new long-term Danish support to IUCN and IIED. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is an international organization working in the field of nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. IUCN focuses on promoting the conservation of nature and ensuring that human societies can thrive sustainably. Its mission is to influence, encourage, and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable

IUCN has received Danish support for a number of years and Nordeco is now developing an organisation strategy that includes a proposed budget for Denmark’s contribution of DKK 100 million for the five years 2025-2029. The proposed key Danish support will contribute towards the following overall impacts of IUCN: Conserving biodiversity effectively, addressing the nature-climate nexus, and advancing a more just and equitable society.

Denmark will also provide new support to the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and as part of the preparations Nordeco is engaged to develop and organisation strategy including a proposed budget for Denmark’s contribution of DKK 80 million for the five years 2025-2029.

IIED is one of the world’s leading independent policy and action research organisations. IIED create, share and use knowledge to shape development policy and practice for climate resilience, equitable global governance and community adaptation to climate change. IIED helped develop the principles for locally led adaptation action, which more than 130 governments, leading global institutions and local and international NGOs have already signed up.
