Nordeco Leads Biodiversity Work at More4Nature Meeting in Barcelona

Last week, Gitte Kragh and Finn Danielsen represented Nordeco at the More4Nature partner meeting in Barcelona, where project partners gathered to assess progress and plan next steps in the ambitious EU-funded initiative. The meeting marked a key milestone following the project’s kick-off eighteen months ago in the Netherlands.

The Barcelona gathering focused on evaluating the first wave of twenty “Pioneer Case Studies” and laying the groundwork for the upcoming “Follow-up Cases.” These case studies span three central themes: Zero Pollution, Biodiversity Protection, and Deforestation Prevention. Nordeco is leading the Biodiversity Protection cases.

Day one of the meeting concentrated on lessons learned from the ground. Participants shared experiences from the Pioneer Cases, discussing how local realities influence citizen and community engagement in environmental action. Teams highlighted the diversity of success across contexts, while also identifying common challenges and emerging solutions.

The second day shifted focus toward translating these insights into action. Discussions centered on how to support communities in defining environmental issues, mapping stakeholders, evaluating resources, and co-designing realistic, locally driven interventions.

The More4Nature project seeks to drive transformative change in environmental protection by placing citizens at the center of compliance and conservation efforts. Through community engagement and shared learning, the project addresses some of today’s most pressing challenges: pollution, biodiversity loss, and deforestation.
